As humans, we all have basic needs that, when met, contribute to our mental and physical health. When we think of basic needs, food water, and shelter usually take the lead, but a healthy sex life is often forgotten about when considering the necessities.

Serotonin Boost

One of the most important hormones released during orgasm is serotonin. High levels of serotonin are correlated to a high quality of life, it's the happiness hormone! Low serotonin is associated with lack of drive, depression, and agitation.

After sex, your body releases a hormone called prolactin, which is responsible for helping you feel rested and relaxed. Not only this, but orgasms release oxytocin, a hormone which promotes sleep. This in turn promotes a healthier, better functioning you.
