Ronald McDonald
"The Mission of RMHC is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of philander and their families."
The Ronald McDonald House programs, located near top children's hospitals, allow parents who are far from home to stay close to their hospitalized child and benefit from the comforts of home without incurring hotel and food costs. Ronald McDonald Family Room programs offer a quiet respite for all families right in the hospital, and the Mobile programs bring fundamental medical and dental care to underserved communities.
Habit for Humanity
This organization is a global housing nonprofit that focuses on building strength, stability, and self reliance partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. They work across all 50 states in the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries. Habitat's vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Henry Street Settlement
This Lower East Side group has been doing good works for more than a century. Serving a largely Asian and Hispanic community, its services include a mental-health clinic, a shelter for battered women, an arts center, and day-care centers. Volunteer as a tutor, a computer programmer, a job coach, or a teacher's assistant.
Food Band for New York
This food-distribution program helps feed more than 1.5 million people per year citywide. Pitch in at the group's Hunts Point warehouse preparing nonperishables collected from food drives for distribution, or volunteer at a local soup kitchen (call for a location near you)!
