What is Bell's Palsy?
Bell's Palsy is a disorder caused by damage to the cranial nerve and it involves sudden facial drooping as well as decreased range of facial movement. The cause of this nerve damage is still mostly unknown, it begins suddenly and worsens over 48 hours. The good news is that recovery usually begins 2 weeks to 6 months from the beginning of symptoms, and most recover with full facial strength.
Some may include tumors, head injuries or hypertension. Some symptoms include full to partial facial paralysis, facial pulling, headaches, facial stiffness and difficulty eating/drinking.
You have an increase risk of developing Bell's Palsy if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or multiple sclerosis.
